Generally, it is the normal diet, which protects you from diseases while boosting your immune status. A normal diet must include water, carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and fibre. Normally, carbohydrates should make up to about 55 per cent and protein 15 per cent. The moment you stray from a normal diet, you are inviting trouble. A recent study says that gimmick diets such as high protein diets, low-carb diets and low fat diets are not as good as a normal diet. Eating a high protein diet or a low carb diet can be harmful to the body. A high fat diet may put you at risk of heart disease, or cancer of the prostate gland or colon cancer. A high protein diet can cause the body to lose calcium leading to osteoporosis resulting in broken bones. While restricting to a low- carb diet, a person may land up with ketosis. This is because when you eat less carbohydrate, your body turns to fat for energy, so it makes sense that more ketones are generated.
